Diddy Combs, Sean, issues an apology for hitting Cassie Ventura in the 2016 video. "I'm abhorred."

Following the release of a video purported to depict him physically abusing his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016, Sean "Diddy" Combs issued an apology.

In a video posted on Sunday on his Instagram page, the 54-year-old rapper addressed the camera directly and stated that he has "no excuses" for his actions on the surveillance footage that CNN obtained and made public on Friday.

My actions on that video are unacceptable," declares Diddy. "I accept complete accountability for the things I did in that video. I'm abhorred. When I first did it, I was disgusted, and I still am."

According to reports, the surveillance footage dates back to March 5, 2016, and it features Diddy running toward Ventura while wearing a bath towel. He then strikes her, pushes her to the ground, and kicks her twice. Then he snatches her and pulls her down the corridor. Diddy can also be seen tossing what looks to be a vase in the video.

According to CNN, the video was shot inside the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.

Ventura sued Diddy in November, claiming that he had engaged in physical abuse, rape, and sex trafficking. One day after the case was filed, the two sides reached a settlement.
